As Vice President of Finance at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Mark Gunter plays a key role in the success of the organization. But for Mark, his connection to the Museum and Memorial runs deeper than just a workplace.

These one-day workshops, hosted in 2019-2020 across the nation and sponsored by the U.S. World War One Centennial Commission, offered a blend of meaningful content and primary-source-focused methods for teaching WWI and its enduring impact.

No battlefield is as dramatic in setting, nor as evocative in memory, as Gallipoli. The National WWI Museum and Memorial embarked on an intimate tour of the Turkish peninsula in 2019, tracing the route of the Allied forces in the Gallipoli Campaign from landing to evacuation.

Steve Hadley’s grandfather, Mike Hachinski, was a proud American and veteran of WWI. On Veterans Day 2017, Steve and his family dedicated a brick on the National WWI Museum Memorial’s Walk of Honor in remembrance of Mike and his service in WWI.

Joan Barkley Wells has lived in the Kansas City area all her life. Considered one of the Museum and Memorial’s most valued supporters, Joan has placed the organization in her estate plans, specifically the Collections and Acquisition Fund.
