Fighting a Different War

Students will look at the different experiences of three prominent marginalized groups in the history of the United States (African Americans, Mexican Americans, and Native Americans), then compare and contrast the prejudice around them as well as how they assisted in the United States war effort in World War I through the use of videos, scholarly articles, newspaper articles, and culminating with the children’s book, Soldier for Equality: Jose de la Luz Saenz and the Great War.
