War Toys (Oct. 2024)

Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 | 5:30 p.m. Reception | 6:30 p.m. Lecture Auditorium and Online

Millions of children since the First World War continue to live in regional and global conflict—reflecting WWI’s enduring impact on the last century. Photographer Brian McCarty, founder and executive director of War Toys, has documented the different yet similar experiences of today’s children in war zones worldwide. A nonprofit arts and media organization, War Toys gathers and disseminates children’s firsthand accounts of war through art-therapy-based collaborations in the field.

Preceding McCarty’s lecture at 6:30 p.m. will be an hour-long reception featuring a photography display of his work from the Middle East. Each guest will receive one complimentary drink; cash bar available.

Hosted in conjunction with the exhibition The Little War and by the generosity of the Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund.
